"Heavy trucks" department
In accordance with the the order of the rector of Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy of 14.02.2002 ¹ 10-P for the effective use of highly qualified scientists and scientific support mechanical engineering industry in Belarus, a close relation of the educational process with specific large-scale R & D as part of the state scientific and technical programs "Heavy trucks" department transfered in the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus".
The department provides training of engineers specializing in "Automobile Production". Graduates of the department have the opportunity to continue postgraduate studies at the Institution.
According to the Statutes of the "Heavy trucks" department. Its main tasks are:
- lecturing assigned to the department courses or their individual parts, laboratory and practical sessions on separate special courses or parts of them in agreement with the profile departments;
- organization and holding of industrial and educational practices at the enterprises and the computer center;
- organization of a course and diploma projects on subjects of research conducted in the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus;
- organization of research work of students, postgraduate students and applicants on the subject of state scientific and technical programs, with the involvement of other departments of the academy.
Currently, the department is headed by General Director of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus, àcademician Michael S. Vysotski.
Among the faculty chair two Prof DSc — Michael S. Vysotski and Vladimir B. Algin, one associate professor, — PhD., Mech. Eng. Sergei N. Poddubko, two senior lecturer — Uladimir M. Sarachan, Nicholai A. Pozdnyakov and a lecturer — Olga V. Drabysheuskaya.
